Young's palette choices, landscapes, and art style reminded me a lot of Tillie Walden. I thought that the artwork in this book was phenomenal. I liked the idea of a gardener who can see and talk to ghosts and sings to dying plants to bring them back to life.
If I had to give it a rating, I would give it 3 stars out of 5. Taproot is a sweet book but I felt like it had issues with pacing, structure, and character development. Taproot was their first published graphic novel. Keezy Young is a queer comic book artist, writer and illustrator from Seattle. Taproot has been praised for its beautiful illustrations and has won several awards. Taproot is 126-pages long and was published by Oni Press on 26 September 2017. The book follows Blue, the ghost of a teenage boy who is having a hard time passing on, because he has fallen in love with his best friend Hamal, a gardener who can see ghosts. Taproot is an all-ages graphic novel and a supernatural fantasy and a queer romance written and illustrated by Keezy Young.
